ONLY TECHNOLOGY CHANGES.
WE ARE LIVING IN REPETITION.
POWER POWER POWER.
CASH MONEY. YAH YAH YAH.
This is a live image with actors being cool, powerful and fucking. Hopefully you
will see it, feel it, and experience it. If not please imagine.
It is a simple story of art, culture, production, worth and power. So, basically, it is
everything. You may disagree. There is an expectation that something will
happen but never does (except maybe some sex… but not very good, anti climax
and rape-sex…) It is an art play, which sums up everything, in a world that
nothing ever changes. The only thing that changes in the world is technology and
how the advancement of technology hurts us in new ways. Yet hurt is hurt and its
hurts, and that stays the same.
This will be in any room in the house.
In a room of light blue walls with some old branches and lights and other
elements. Lights and possibly a yellow gel.
The clock on the wall. Rocks on the ground.
A wood box for the protestor to stand on. A ladder for GOD.
(Gun sounds and war maybe)
Here are the characters:
The Foreman / Director (who has all the power and is therefore GOD and
CAPITAL) – ideally he is played by a black man, no wait, a black woman wearing
a blue jumpsuit or some type of one-piece suit and with a top hat or a green
baret. She (or if it must be a he.) More realistically it would be a he. DAMN IT.
Well the actor, has a pointer or a cane – is the only one with total control. And a
whistle of course.
3 Interns (slaves / minions) are wearing animal costumes.
The Artist (the clown) – wears a clown nose
The Gallery Owner – wears all pink and dances like a ballerina.
The activist – shouts randomly at various times.
Religion – will be represented by a priest or a nun – but only as an inanimate
object.
INSTRUCTIONS for ACTORS:
If you are the foreman (God,) you constantly boss around the artist and the
slaves. Occasionally when you are proud of the way the slaves have placed your
kingdom / installation / playground, you can reward with blue glitter and with the
raping of an Intern (slave) or the gallery ballerina. They should be so lucky. YOU
shout orders to the interns (slaves) and the artist, occasionally lust after the
ballerina but prefer to rape the interns (slaves) and are allowed to throw a rock at
the activist.
If you are an intern (slave,) you act like an animal, obey, fuck, eat and sleep. You
do not know how to speak properly and only articulate yes and no. YES YES
YES. NO NO NO. You must obey every word of the Foreman (GOD / CAPITAL),
occasionally entertain the artist (clown) and then grab each other when not
working. You must all do the same actions as if in a factory line. You have no
individuality what so ever. Individuality would be against the rules.
If you are the artist, you are the fool, and are never really sure what you are
doing. You walk around the room, sit, look at things, arrange things, mumble etc.
On occasion, you say things like: This is so conceptual. I am so great. You do not
understand. I will take the bottle. Duchamp is my hero. Do you want to fuck
because I am famous? Google me.
If you are the gallery ballerina, you dance and spin and smile. You may chirp like
a bird and smile at everyone. You want everyone to like you. You try and lick
people. The only words you are allowed to speak are: This is simply fabulous,
fabulous. Look at my perky breasts. More white wine, more white wine.
If you are the activist, you must think you are the hero. You stand on a box. You
never sit down. Shoulders back and very proud. You use the occupy movement
method of the peopleʼs microphone - and say things twice, once loud and once
as an echo, like:
I AM HERE TODAY, I am here today, FOR THE CAUSE for the cause, OF ALL
HUMAN BEINGS of all human beings, ALL ANIMALS all animals, AND THE
WHOLE WORLD, and the whole world, EXCEPT, except, EVERYONE I
DISAGREE WITH, everyone I disagree with.
(Everything must be said twice –-----)
THE ONLY TIME THE CHARACTERS ARE ALLOWED OUT OF CHARACTER
IS IF AN AUDIENCE MEMEMBER TRIES TO HARM THEM. THEN THE
CHARACTER HAS THE WILL AND RIGHT TO ACT AS THEY SEE FIT.
